REGO, Maria Teresa Rego

Peacefully in her home on Sunday, August 2, 2026, Maria Teresa Rego passed away at the age of 86. Wife of the late Manuel Sá Rego (2000). Mother of Tony (Janice) and Margarette (George). Grandmother of Elizabeth (Adam) and Katelyn (Austin). Great grandmother of Sophia, Olivia, Elsie, and Ollie. Mom loved her granddaughters to the moon and back. You always knew she was present at their dance recitals because she was the loudest cheerer and clapper. Mom was a vivid storyteller sharing her memories of growing up in the 1940’s on a farm in São Miguel, Azores, yet through all the hard work and sacrifices her family showed a deep devotion, joy, and love for one another. Mom has carried those values with her for her entire life. She always welcomed guests through the door with open arms, a way of life she has instilled in her children. She treasured her love and deep respect for her best friends Irene Medeiros and Illa Bullock, who were always there for her in good times and in bad times. Mom lived a full and blessed life and left this beautiful world on her own terms. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 1465 Lecaron Avenue, Sarnia, on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with entombment to follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
