RENNIE, Elaine Margaret Rennie

It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Elaine Margaret Rennie (Chalmers), at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on the 16th of September 2025, in her 81st year.

Elaine was born in Ottawa on October 27th, 1944, to James and Gertie (Kelly) Chalmers. Beloved mother of Robyn Rennie (Stan Oag) and Randall Rennie (Charlene). Cherished grandmother of Skye LeMay (David), Eryn Leigh, Michael Oag (Victoria) and Danielle Rennie. “G.G.” to Lucy and Penelope LeMay, Finch and Renwick Leigh, and Zoey and Hailey Rennie. Foster mother to Sharyn Watson, and Grandma Elaine to Tambrey and Trevor VanDerGulik.

Survived by siblings Patricia Long, John Chalmers, Stephen Pellerin, Deborah Berlenbach, Donna Pellerin, Judi Pellerin, Melinda Toombs, Maureen Chalmers and Jamie Chalmers. Predeceased by Melanie Chalmers and brother-in-law Bob Long, and partner Norman Preston.

Elaine was an active member of Uxbridge Free Methodist Church and Faith United Church in Courtice. Elaine lived her life to serve others as a dedicated volunteer for many decades at the Markham Fall Fair, recording books for the Christian Blind Mission and serving meals every Christmas day at the Scott Mission in Toronto.

Our mother loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. We will always remember her delicious homemade pies and cakes that made every event extra special. Mom was known for her love of animals and her extraordinary bear hugs.

Elaine will be interred privately in Almonte, Ontario with a Celebration of Life to be held at Faith United Church, 1778 Nash Road Courtice, Ontario L1E 2L9 on Saturday October 11th, 2025, (time to be determined).
