Passed away peacefully in her home in the early morning of January 28, 2026, in her 92nd year.

Molly shared nearly 63 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Jim (predeceased), and was a loving mother to Jim (Martine), Katherine (Gary), and Christopher (Hilionor). She was a cherished grandmother to Jay (Taylor), Katelyn (Daniel), Billy, Matthew, Dana (Evan), Brendan, Holly, and Samantha, and a very proud great-grandmother—known lovingly as “GG”—to Warren and Malcolm.

Molly was born on February 20, 1934, in Tacks Beach, Newfoundland. She was the cherished daughter of Janie Bartlett. Although her biological father, William Monks, passed away before she was born, Molly was fortunate to be deeply loved by Malcolm Bartlett, the man she knew as her “Pop.” She was the beloved younger sister of Reginald (predeceased) and remained a proud Newfoundlander throughout her life—strong-spirited and full of heart.

Molly had a deep and abiding love for animals. She rescued them, cared for them, and advocated for them whenever she could. Horses held a particularly special place in her heart, and she found great joy in riding them.

A remarkable athlete, Molly discovered competitive running at the age of 50, proving that it is never too late to chase greatness. Her determination and discipline carried her to extraordinary heights, becoming both a Canadian and World Champion and setting Canadian and world records along the way.

She also loved curling and could often be found cheering enthusiastically for her Newfoundland team. She took special joy in watching Brad Gushue curl, proud to support an athlete from her home province.

Molly will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the love she gave so freely to her family and her animals. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Newcastle Funeral Home. Visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the service beginning at 11:00 AM – refreshments will follow. Interment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens later that afternoon.
