RICOTTONE, Sheila Michelle Ricottone
March 31, 1947 - March 31, 2026
It is with broken hearts that the family of Sheila Batstone announces her sudden passing on March 31, 2026. Sheila passed away on her 52nd birthday at home in Hamilton, ON. Despite her courage and determination to face this unexpected health battle, our beautiful Sheila sadly succumbed to an illness that she didnβt even get the chance to fight.
Above all else, Sheila Michelle Ricottone was a devoted Mom to her beloved daughters Stephanie and Sarah. She lived for them and loved them deeply. She protected them fiercely and advocated for them always. She was their provider, their voice and their support. She was the source of their safety, comfort and strength. Β She was their best friend.
Preceded in death by her father Wesley Batstone (December 2025). Survived by her loving and dedicated mother Elsie Batstone (Hamilton, ON). Cherished sister to Kathleen (Monte) Mackenzie, Mississauga, ON; and Jim (Kim) Batstone, Hamilton, ON. Treasured aunt to Collin (Karen), Shawn, Alex (Diana), Brooklynn, Jake and Leah. Adored great aunt to Faith, Jaden and Ava. Sheila will also be missed by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Alberta.
Since childhood, Sheila was sassy, feisty and always up for a good time. Her siblings and cousins can surely recollect countless memories of mischief and fun during yearly family visits to Newfoundland. Her quick wit and good-natured sarcastic humour brought laughter into every room she entered. She always had a clever wisecrack at the tip of her tongue, and she could take a razzing as well as she could dish it out. She was thoughtful, honest, outspoken and passionate about the things she cared about. She was always the first to acknowledge a birthday. Give cool auntie advice to her nieces and nephews. Stand up for a loved one. Crack a joke and liven up any gathering. She was our fearless little firecracker.
Sheila was a well liked and hard-working employee at the Hamilton General Hospital for many years. She was known for her love of peach pie, the colour red, and a funny, good old-fashioned exchange of insults. Her sense of humour was legendary and her laugh was infectious. Β She will be missed by all for her youthful energy and spunky spirit.
Reunited for eternity with her dad, Wesley Batstone, not even five months after his passing. Our family now has two angels. Fly high sis. You were taken far too soon but will never be forgotten. Rest easy knowing that your girls will forever be loved and taken care of.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life on Saturday April 18th, 2026 at Bowman United Church, 880 Garner Rd E, Ancaster, Ontario, from 3 β 8 p.m. Please join us in remembering and honouring both Sheila and her Dad Wesley.
