McCARTHY, Robert Murray – Suddenly passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at the age of 77.
Beloved father of the late Patrick McCarthy, and Christina Brulotte (Deny); children from his first marriage with Francine Routhier. Cherished Gamper of Madyson Brulotte, Ashley Brulotte, and Lauren Brulotte. Predeceased by his parents Robert Murray McCarthy Sr. and Flora Isabel McCarthy-Howell. Brother of Rusty McCarthy (Maja Bannerman), Patricia McCarthy, and the late Carol-Joy Scali (Bobby). Uncle of Sarah Thompson, Ron Kelly Jr. (Amanda), Abbey Scali (Lloyd), Ryan Wanner; and Great-Uncle of Jade Kelly, Jaxon Kelly, and Jayson Scali. He will be missed by his uncle Duncan Howell of Ottawa, and many cousins in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Special friend of Ken Nixon of Waterloo, Mike Jacobs, Val and Marlene Nose, John Tibbles, and many others including members of the Sault Blues Society of which he was a great supporter and the treasurer. Appreciated by the Red Cross Society of Sault Ste. Marie, for which he volunteered for the Senior Transportation Program for several years.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East, 705-759-2522), on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 from 4 pm until the time of service at 6 pm with Rev. Helen Smith officiating. Memorial contributions payable by cheque or online to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Red Cross would be appreciated.
