He was promoted to his heavenly home on Saturday, September 12th surrounded by his family and held in the promises he cherished throughout his life. Beloved husband of Sandra (nee Baker) of Seagrave. Loved father of Kimberley, Christopher, and Laura. Loving grandfather of Ella, Avery, Emerie, Hudson, Lennon, Londyn, and step grandfather of Bella and Dustin. Dear brother of Shirley and Randy.
Ronald James Dawe was a man of contrasts in the best possible way: gruff when the moment called for it, yet deeply tender-hearted. He was never afraid of tears, whether they came from sorrow, joy, or the overwhelming gratitude he often felt for the people God placed in his life.
A lifelong teaser, Ron’s humour was legendary. Randy and Shirley could fill volumes with stories of his antics, and anyone who ever received one of his famous nicknames wore it like a badge of honour. His contagious laugh—the kind that made his whole body shake—became the soundtrack of countless family gatherings. More often than not, he was the reason everyone else was laughing too.
Weekends at the racetrack with family were among his happiest times, and garage‑sailing with close friends was his treasure‑hunting sport. Ron had a gift for finding beauty where others saw the ordinary.
He honoured his parents with a devotion that shaped his character. Like his father before him, Ron carried on the cherished Christmas tradition of reading the story of Christ’s birth and praying over the family before presents were opened—always reminding everyone that Jesus was the real gift. His faith was not merely spoken; it was lived. He wrote with clarity and conviction, occasionally sharing pieces that pointed others to the love of the Lord Jesus.
Ron counted his children and grandchildren as God’s “love‑gifts; heaven’s generous reward,” and he treasured them as such. He protected, guided, teased, encouraged, and loved them with a father’s full heart.
He knew his ultimate home was Heaven, and he longed for the day he would be reunited with Jesus, his mom and dad, and even a few beloved pets. That longing has now been fulfilled. A man of bold presence, unwavering integrity, and deep compassion, Ron has now heard the words he lived his life to receive: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, faith, generosity, and love—a legacy that will continue to shape the lives of all who were blessed to know him.
