CARRIERE, Ronald Fred "Rockin’ Ronnie" – August 18, 1943 – October 1, 2026

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Ron, surrounded by his loving family until the very end. Ron told everyone that he loved them. We shared stories about him, we laughed, we cried, we loved, and we celebrated the beautiful man that he was.

Ron is now reunited with his cherished parents, Arthur and Yvonne Carriere. Ron leaves behind his beautiful wife and best friend, Faye Carriere, and his well-respected former wife, Pauline Costello. He was a cherished father to Bill Carriere (Shauna), Debbie Carriere-Taylor (Greg), Victor Williams, Kim Williams, Todd Williams, and two bonus sons, Mark and Al Diotte.

Ron was a very special grandpa and kindred spirit to Holly, Lennon (Carissa), Rachel, Justin (Jennifer), Nathanael, Ondine, and the late Destiny. He was a special great-grandpa to Hunter, Annabelle (with whom he shared the same birthday), Marcus, and Spencer. He was the beloved brother to the late Rita Borgford (Bud), the late Claire and Jerry Leonard, Eva King (Don), the late Barb Uskali (Wayne), the late Arthur Carriere, and Joe Carriere (Sharon). Ron was also a brother-in-law to Sharon Schlemmel (and the late Rich), Gene Wiles (and the late Sharon Wiles), Robert Wiles, and the late Mike O’Connors (Irene). Ron had many nieces and nephews who will always hold a special place in his heart.

A special thank you to Ron’s billiard buddies, whom he thought so highly of and who brought him so much friendship and enjoyment.
Ron loved his dogs, Precious and Buddy, as well as the numerous pets that came before them.

Ron was a man of great kindness and compassion. He loved hard and played equally as hard. He was quite the character—the life of the party and the best friend to everyone there. He was known as the “Animal Whisperer.” Between the dogs, feral cats, and wild birds, no stray or wounded animal was ever left behind when Ron was around.

Ron had a passion for sports and was unstoppable throughout his life, whether playing baseball, bowling, billiards, or hockey—sports he excelled at and loved. He was a devoted Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs super fan and rarely missed a game.

Ron was also a master angler who loved his special fishing spots on St. Joseph’s Island. He shared countless beautiful memories with family and friends at his fishing camp in Oba, Ontario. A skilled carpenter, Ron created many beautiful pieces that are still proudly used in his family’s homes today.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the doctors and nurses who cared for Ron in the Emergency Department at Sault Area Hospital, with special thanks to the nurses in Wing 3B. We also extend our sincere gratitude to the caregivers who visited his home, maintained his dignity, and treated him with the respect he deserved.
Our family and friends will be telling “Rockin’ Ronnie” stories for generations to come and remembering how he always made everyone laugh.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever a husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.

As Ron would say: “Have a drink!” “Smoke ’em if you got ’em!” “Fish on!” and “Rack ’em up!”

A Celebration of Life will be held this Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Icebreakers Sports Bar & Grill (260 Elizabeth St., SSM, Ontario P6A 6J3) above the John Rhodes Arena.
