ROORDA, Wayne Charles Roorda

On June 13, 2025, Wayne went to his Lord and Savior in Heaven. Born June 25, 1958, in Oshawa, Ontario, Wayne grew up farming with his family. He loved playing hockey and was a talented goalie — his passion led him to being draft picked for the Boston Bruins organization. Unfortunately, an early back injury ended his professional playing career. Along the way, he built lasting friendships with notable figures like Don Cherry and Wayne Gretzky.

Wayne married Grace on October 11, 1985. He drove trucks for a few companies before co-founding a landscaping business with his brother Tim Roorda. Eventually, they branched off into their own ventures, and Wayne ran Rosewood Landscaping for most of his life. Known for his chatty, friendly demeanor, he was always welcoming—especially to newcomers at church.

Wayne is survived by his wife Grace; daughter Melissa and her daughters Vienna and Sereia; son Charles (Amanda) and their children Broden and Sawyer; and son Matthew (Emma). Also survived by his mother Joan and predeceased by his father Turner.

He leaves behind many siblings and extended family: brother Ed (Gloria) and their children John (Dawn), Adrian, Steven (Tiffany), Corrina (Carl); brother Rick (Louisa) and their children Sean (Christa), Aaron (Rebecca), Kaitlin (Jared), and Sara; predeceased brother Brad and his wife Edna, their children Amanda (Dominque), Rebecca (predeceased by Sean), Jolinka (Ryan), Phillip, and Justin; predeceased brother Terry and his wife Jo, and their children Karen and Peter (Janessa); brother Wayne (Vicki); sister Marg-Ann (Jacqui), predeceased niece Natalie; and brother Tim (Shelley) and their children Nicholas (Nicole) and Austin (Hannah).

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel. No formal services will be held at this time.
