ROSS, James Thomas Ross

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at the age of 79.

Jim is survived by his wife Donna (nee Millen); children Mark Ross (Tammy) and Cathy Schoel (Lee); grandchildren Matt Ross and Taylor Ross; his sister Doris Taylor; in-laws Mary Millen, Shirley & John Oswald, Bob Millen, Joyce & Jerry Dales and Jim & Fran Millen; twelve nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Russell and Erma Ross; in-laws Joe and Gertie Millen; brothers-in-law Jim Taylor and John Spalding; his sister-in-law Betty Millen; and his niece Andrea Spalding.

Jim grew up on a farm near Whitechurch and managed (barely) to make it through high school. He was an avid outdoorsman all of his life and could be found hunting or fishing whenever he could. He became a tool and die maker and, after a few years, started his own business in his basement. Over the years he and Donna grew the business into a very successful company.

After retirement he spent time traveling with Donna throughout Canada and much of the United States, as well as Scotland and England. He loved spending time at their cottage, and particularly enjoyed time with his grandchildren Matt and Taylor. Whether he was in the woods, at the shop, or travelling with Donna, Jim lived life with his subtle sense of humour, kindness and a generosity that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow.
