John Earl Runstedler of Mapleton Township passed away at Victoria Hospital, London, with his wife at his side, on Saturday, June 21, 2025, in his 71st year.
Husband of Theresa Millen. Father of John, Ronnie, Chris, and Bryan Runstedler, Papa John to Sara, Mason, Sage, Sara, Claire, and Owen, and great-grandpa of Beverley.
Brother of Judy Bailey of Verner, Kathy DeJong of Woodstock, Carol & Dave Brunskill of Elora, Sandy & Russ Silver of Kitchener, and brother-in-law of John Whitwam of Listowel, Wayne Neal of Point Clark, Rosemary Benninger of Teeswater, Betty Misener of Burlington, Dave Millen of Teeswater, Doug & Valerie Millen of Cambridge, and Lorne & Joyce Millen of Teeswater. Remembered also by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents John & Marjorie (Lawrence) Runstedler, parents-in-law Bill and Marie Millen, siblings Nancy Neal, Paul Runstedler, Diane Whitwam, Donna Bender, and by his brothers-in-law Alan Bailey, Tom Millen, and Steve Millen.
John worked his entire career as a machinist in the Kitchener area. When not working he spent every spare moment outdoors. He loved to fish but his real love was hunting. He also loved sitting around a campfire enjoying nature. John was a member of the Grand River Beagle Club for 37 years. He proudly raised many beagles including 5 Field Trail Champions. John also had a love of woodworking, leaving many cherished items to family and friends. His love of gardening could feed a small village. He was extremely proud to watch his sons and grandchildren share all the joys and knowledge of the life he enjoyed.
The Celebration of John’s life will be held at Parkview Gardens, (565 Elizabeth St. E., Listowel) on Sunday, June 29, 2025 from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m., with words being shared at 1:30 p.m. Memories of John are welcome.
Memorial donations to Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre or Ducks Unlimited would be appreciated, and may be made through the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
