He was predeceased by: his father Ambrose O’Keefe (Sam); and his brother Ronald Racine. He is survived by: his wife Melinda O’Keefe (Downey); his children, Holly Chatman (Zachary Chatman) and Taylor O’Keefe (Ollie); his grandson Felix Samuel Chatman; his mother Maureen O’Keefe (Cooper); his stepfather Ronald Racine; his siblings, Cynthia Hynes Elizabeth O’Keefe (Roger Hynes), Rhonda Racine, Kevin O’Keefe (Wanda Gregory), Cory O’Keefe (Cynthia O’Keefe) and Jamie O’Keefe (Brittany O’Keefe); his nieces and nephews, Beth Scarlett, Brooklyn Hynes, Sophie O’Keefe, Abbey (Alex Stull), Colin O’Keefe, Luke O’Keefe, Benjamin Stapleton, Spencer and Shamus Downey; his in-laws, Alphonsus, Barbara Downey, Jason Downey (Betty Bruce), Stephen Downey Evelyn (Sonia Downey) and Heather Downey; and his close friends, Rick Duggan and Kathy Ryan.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 2nd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Caul’s Funeral Home (84 Lemarchant Rd, St. John’s, NL A1C2G8). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Caul’s Funeral Home (84 Lemarchant Rd, St. John’s, NL A1C2G8).

Flowers gratefully accepted, however, donations in Sam’s memory can be made to either the Foster Families of Newfoundland and Labrador, or the Single Parents Association of Newfoundland.
