SCHMIDT, Robert Schmidt

passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Waterloo Regional Health Network – Queen’s Boulevard (St. Mary’s Hospital), Kitchener, in his 91st year.

Beloved husband of Winifred (Addison) Schmidt, father of Alison (Jeff) Kuntz of Alma, Glen (Margaret) Schmidt of Chepstow, Gord (Elizabeth) Schmidt of Greenock. Bob was the proud Papa of Ryan Kuntz (Jaymee Bester), Brad Kuntz (Shawna Cabeldu), Michelle Kuntz (Taylor Wright), Ben, Will, Luke, Callisto, Colby, Lauren, and Ian Schmidt. He will be remembered by his sister Martha Monk, and in-laws Les Binkley, Hannah Schmidt, Johnny (Ann) Addison, Jimmy (Andrea) Addison, Shelagh Addison, and many nieces and nephews.

Bob spent many hours tending the greens at the Walkerton Lawn Bowling Club and maintaining the ice at the Walkerton Curling Club and was still participating in both sports until the last few weeks.  They were his passion.  He will be dearly missed by his friends and teammates at both clubs.

Predeceased by his parents Ed and Edna Schmidt, daughters in infancy Ellen, Lynn and Vera, siblings Irene (Herb) Bohnert, Rita (Wally) Scott, John (Dolores) Schmidt, Elaine (Bruce) King, Eleanor Binkley, Eddie Schmidt, Mary-Lou (Bill) Cox, and brother in-laws Leo Monk and Brian Addison.

The Schmidt Family would like to sincerely thank the staff at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton, and the Waterloo Regional Health Network – Queen’s Boulevard (St. Mary’s Hospital), Kitchener, for the diligent care and support they provided both to Bob and our family.

Family and friends are invited for casual visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Cameron’s in Walkerton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Sacred Heart Church, Walkerton. Fr. Leszek Szczygiel presiding. Reception in the Sacred Heart Parish Hall.
