SCHUTTE, Dwayne Lionel Schutte

June 28, 1938 - February 11, 2026
SCHUTTE, Dwayne Lionel Schutte

He went to be with his Saviour on February 11, 2026, at the age of 87.

Dwayne was proud of his Swedish heritage, and he grew up living on a farm in Valbrand, Sask. He was married in 1958 and worked at Burns Co. in Prince Albert, Sask., until he moved the family out west to Kelowna, BC, in the summer of 1969. He started his own painting business and provided house painting and wallpaper application for his customers. In the late 1970’s, he started Diamond S Farm Trucking. Dwayne, along with his wife Shirley, supplied fresh Okanagan fruit to southern Alberta towns and markets. He operated this business until his retirement in 2003. They both continued to spend many winters in California and Arizona in their RV. They enjoyed visiting with many long-time friends and family during their snowbird years. Over the last few years, he enjoyed a country fair or car show. Also, many hours were spent working on his acreage in Kelowna, including caring for his cattle, who he referred to as “the girls”.

Dwayne was predeceased by his parents, David and Helen Schutte; as well as three infant siblings; his brother Lionel; and daughter-in-law Ilka Schutte (Temme).

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Shirley, and his children, Farrel (Glenn) Peters and Darrel (Laurie) Schutte. His five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren (plus one) carry on his legacy: Jadon (Jasper) Peters their children Jethro and Wrenley; Jenessa (David) Giesbrecht their children Navy, Savannah, and Shania; Dillon (Ann-Christin) Peters their children Kellan and Skye; Tyson (Carrie) Schutte their daughter Addison; and Danika (Jon) Dvorak one child on the way. He also loved his four step-grandchildren and their children as his own: Richard Mailey; Korey Mailey (Ashley), their children Ethan and Olivia; Matt Mailey; and Shauna (Garrett) Brown, their children Grayson and Huxley.

Dwayne is also survived by his brother, Lyle Schutte (Andree); his brother-in-law, Merv Messaros (Marlene); his nieces, Michelle (d. Kevin) Eliason and Lois Presber (Curtis); and his nephews, Leslie Schutte (Diana) and Levi Schutte (Cherish).

A private family service will be held at a later date. Final rest will be in Valbrand, Saskatchewan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Teen Challenge Society.
