SCHWARZ, Herbert Franz Schwarz
December 26, 1930 - June 7, 2026He died in his sleep in his 95 th year, in his comfortable caring home at Lakeview Manor in Beaverton on June 7th 2026.
He had a wonderful life, much loved by his three children, and their partners, seven grandchildren and their five partners and his ten great grandchildren, most of whom called him βPaβ.
Born in Czechoslovakia, he was a self made man, arriving in Britain after the war as a βstatelessβ refugee. Half his family were murdered in the Holocaust, and the other half were persecuted and expelled because of their German language. But Pa remained positive, forward thinking and committed to his family. He loved Canada, where he arrived in 1966. His work as chemist and technical service with Polysar took him around the world, particularly enjoying his years in Japan.
Herbert Franz Schwarz loved cruising with his most cherished wife Mary, who he has predeceased. He filled his retirement with volunteer work, Golden Kiwanis and caring for his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
Much thanks to the staff at Lakeview Manor, and the Sager family who were wonderful to Pa.
As described by a granddaughterβs partner, βPa was one of a kind β kind to his core, endlessly curious about the world, and always forward-thinking in a way that inspired everyone around him. His spirit and the way he lived his life will stay with all of us.β
