Passed away suddenly at Transition House Home in Cobourg on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the age of 49. Cherished and dearly missed son of Peter Scruby and Nancy Blight. Beloved brother of, Melanie Scruby (Ryan Carty) and Scott Scruby (Samantha Curl). Shane will be dearly missed by his girlfriend, Shannon Wilson.

Dear nephew of Brian (Mimi Spencer) and their children Julienne Spencer (Adam Kent), Sheri Spencer (Joe Frechette) and Calvin (Lydia Spencer and their children Kaylee, Malcolm, Mina) and Lara (Jacob Harasyn); Lynne (John Hardill) and their children Kelly Hardill (Ryan Nolan) and Christopher (Christina Hardill and their children Hayley and Hudson). Shane will be missed by his wonderful ACT Team caseworkers, shelter staff, and friends.

Shane Peter Scruby is predeceased by his Grandparents (Gordon Spencer and Shirley Spencer, his treasured sister Allison Scruby, cousin Andrea Hardill and best friend Geoffrey Barr.)

A special thank you to the Assertive Community Treatment Team in Cobourg and Transition House Home staff for their kindness and compassion. A memorial reception will be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St E, Cobourg, on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 2:00 pm- 4: 00 pm. Memories will be at 2:30 pm. Due to allergies, the family requests no lilies. Inurnment will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions in Shane’s memory may be made to the Northumberland Assertive Community Treatment Team or The Northumberland Hills Hospital.
