Sharron Joan Haughn (née Little), 80, of West LaHave, Nova Scotia, passed away on October 7, 2026, in Bridgewater. Born July 18, 1946, she was the eldest daughter of the late Harold and Florence Little. Her early years were spent in Auburndale and Hebbville, where she walked with friends to the one-room schoolhouse, before the family moved to Toronto. There she embraced city life, working a variety of jobs — from convenience stores to waitressing — alongside her best friend Gail. In the early 1970s she returned home to the Bridgewater area, where she met her future husband, George.
A spirited woman who never liked to sit still, Sharron loved people, travel, and keeping busy. She worked at the Wandalyn hotel, kept active at the gym, played golf, picked berries, and devoted herself to knitting, baking, and preserving pickles and jams that she shared generously with family, friends, and strangers alike. She cherished visits with her daughter Kim and family in Clark’s Harbour and her son Kirk and family in Ottawa, and was immensely proud of her grandchildren. She loved to travel, counting Aruba and Turks & Caicos among her favourite destinations.
At the age of 59, Sharron was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, a battle she faced with characteristic determination and positivity. At 70 she travelled to Montreal for deep brain stimulation surgery, which restored her quality of life for several more years. Her beautiful gardens remained her pride and joy — her “happy place” — and her husband George became her devoted full-time caregiver. In June she moved to Ridgewood Assisted Living in Bridgewater, where she spent her final months under compassionate care. She is survived by her beloved husband George; her children Kim (Ross) and Kirk (Natasha); her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her sister Linda. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Westside United Church in Pentz, followed by a private burial at Brookside Cemetery in West Dublin. Memorial donations may be made to Parkinson Canada, Westside United Church, or a charity of choice. Arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home in Bridgewater.
