SHEIL, Sandra Nadeen Sheil

After an 8-year struggle with Alzheimer’s, passed away peacefully at Hastings Manor in Belleville on July 7th, 2026 at the age of 88 years. Sandra was predeceased (2007) by her loving husband Ken (Ford), married in August 1958. Loving mother of Glenn (Mickie) of Quinte West and Thomas (Lisa deceased) of Cherry Valley. Grammie to Michelle, Gaga to Sawyer and great Grammie to Isabelle and Wyatt.

Sandra Nadeen Sheil was the oldest daughter of the late Daniel and Dorothy (nee Pratt) Tysick of Perth. She is survived by her sisters Linda Closs (Bill), Marlene Toner (Willie deceased) and her brothers Eldwin (Elva) Dale (Pauline), Gary (Joan deceased), Brian (Karmel) and predeceased by Jeannie Squires (Larry). Herb (Shirley deceased) and Bud (Irene deceased).

She was a great friend having made memories with John and Gail MacSteven, Ray and Ejna Best, Jim and Shirley Norrie, Peter and Anne Balog, Barb and Jerry Hollywood, Harold and Cathy Dunlop and Ron and Keitha Leavitt. May you all continue to enjoy libations, dances and cards.

Sandra started her teaching career in Perth and taught for over 30years in Prince Edward County. While strict and “old school”, she was beloved by her students and even with her Alzheimer’s, remembered every student she taught and was able to name each when shown her class pictures. Mom was also a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star having held many positions in the Picton Chapter.

Mom loved being a grandmother, gardening, dancing, euchre and yoga. She was especially fond of her Fairy Lillies or Zephyranthes Lillies that were passed down from her grandmother and are continued to be grown to this day by family. Mom was especially known for having her ever present camera and taking forever to take a picture but those she did take we will always be grateful for and have many memories of a lifetime.

A Special Thank You for the friendship, care, song and laughs shared with Michelle Moore who became a special part of the family and meant so much to Mom.

The family would also like to extend their thanks to the staff on Spruce Ward of Hastings Manor in Belleville who took great care of Mom for the last six-months. Thanks also to Quinte Cremation Services and Rushnell Funeral Home and the Manor on Loyalist Parkway where Mom was a resident for over 4years.

Mom is now able to cook her famous dry pot roast, fabulous lasagna and many other dishes. She can reunite with her friends and family who she has missed for many years and enjoy dancing all night with Dad to the Tennessee Waltz and songs by Patsy Cline and Tom T Hall. You were a great and wonderful wife, Mom, and friend to so many people Mom. We will miss you and forever love you. Always in our memories.

In keeping Moms wishes to “keep it simple”, there will be no funeral service. A private graveside ceremony for immediate family.
