SHEPPARD, Bill Sheppard
August 7, 1948 - July 7, 2025
Bill Sheppard passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Mariposa House Hospice in Orillia, in his 77th year.
Bill was the devoted husband of Rhonda Evelyn (Stickland), with whom he shared nearly 50 loving years of marriage since September 27, 1975. He was the beloved son of the late Roma Sheppard. Dear son in law of the late Nelson and Norma Stickland.
He was recently united with his half-brother, Steve Bowin, and cherished their newfound bond. Steve and his wife Patsy, along with their sons Zachary and the late James, held a special place in Bill’s heart.
Bill was a dearly loved brother-in-law to Lorene Baycroft (late Bob), Jackie Smith (Gary), Jill Hamilton, Norm Stickland (late Kathy), Kim Hamilton (Margo), Kevin Hamilton (Lisa), and Scot Hamilton. He was a proud and loving uncle to Tammy Baycroft-Butler (Jim), and a treasured great-uncle—and lifelong teaser—to Taylor Foster (Corey) and Camryn Butler. He was also a joyful great-great-uncle and play pal to Taylor and Corey’s sons, Jameson and Walker.
He shared laughter, love, and countless memories with many cousins and their families.
Bill and Rhonda shared a deep love for their feline companions, and their beloved cats—Natus, Naya, and Clarise—will miss him dearly.
Professionally, Bill was a highly respected and well-loved colleague at Signature Memorials. Over the course of his long and dedicated career as a monument salesman and Area Manager of sales, he worked closely with many funeral directors, earning admiration across the industry.
Bill will be remembered for his sharp wit and ever-present sense of humour, which he carried with him to the very end. His stories and laughter brought joy to all who knew him. Bill will be sadly missed by his many friends.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Bill’s care team—Dr. Odlizinski, Dr. Hemphill, and Dr. McFadyen—whose dedication and compassion were instrumental throughout his medical journey. His final days at Mariposa House Hospice were peaceful, surrounded by comfort and care.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted to Mangan Funeral Home, Beaverton, Ontario. Interment will follow at St. Andrew’s – St. James’ Cemetery, Orillia.
A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be announced at a later date.
