Walter (Walt) Sherwin passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville.

Beloved husband for 34 years and best friend of Jessica (Mostert).

Loved son of Glenda Sherwin (Cowan) and the late Laurence and brother to Kim Sommers. Loved son-in-law of Carol Mostert (late Cornelis), brother-in-law to Arnold (Joanne) Mostert and uncle to Joshua.

Walter grew up in Orono, attended Clark High School and graduated from Queen’s University as a mechanical/electrical engineer. He spent his working career at General Motors as an automotive and forensic engineer

Walter’s passion and interests were cutting grass on his tractor, drag car racing and research and developing “big-block” engines.

Walter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

As per Walter’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and the family will be holding a private graveside memorial at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
