SNOWDEN, David William Snowden

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of David William Snowden on May 25, 2026 at the young age of 71.
Beloved husband of Jodi Hewett-Snowden. Son of the late William Snowden, (“The Ice cream man”), and mother Beverly. Son-in-law to late mother-in-law Eileen Crouch (nee Pascoe) , surviving husband Harvey Crouch. Son-in-law of Clem Hewett and the late Elaine Hewett. Nephew to Jim Pengelly. Dear brother to John Snowden (Linda) and Gary Snowden. Dear brother-in-law to Jeff Hewett (Cathy), Jerri Kosciesza (Chris). Beloved father of Chrystal Bathory (Derrick). Dearly loved uncle to Marisa Snowden, Brianne Snowden (Kevin), Erik Snowden, Courtney Hewett (Chris), Joshua Kosciesza (Caroline), Casey Hewett, Jacob Kosciesza (Ashley). Deeply loved by our Little Sister Rebecca Case, Samaya and Charlie Benain, Carmine & Pina Bruni family and our New Brunswick Crouch/Kennedy family.

David was an employee of General Motors for 32 years. David loved driving and was well-known for his hauling trailers capabilities. He also loved hauling his own family RV and vacationing.

As a demolition derby enthusiast, he will be especially remembered for his many years and prowess in the demolition derby circuit throughout Ontario as the “Ghostbuster.” David was very good at working with machinery and anything mechanical with cars, trucks, motorcycles, dirt bikes and riding picnic tables among other motorized toys for big boys.

David will be remembered for being kind and ready to help anyone who needed it. He always took time for others. David was deeply loved by his family and  countless friends for his caring nature, strength and words of advice. David will be missed by his fur family Snoopy, Stewy and Sully.

David loved being ‘The Jolly Fellow’ at Christmas time for many community agencies, family and friends. For 13 years, David participated in this role for Oshawa’s Santa’s Parade of Lights. David also drove his tractor and hay wagon float in the THEE Farmer’s Parade with our cow ‘Holly the Holstein’. David was also ‘The Sheriff’ at the North Oshawa Farmer’s Market.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate and caring staff on the Radiation, ROCC, 6th floor Oncology and 2nd floor ICU units of the Lakeridge Cancer Centre and Lakeridge Oshawa . Special thanks to Dr. Schattner, Oncology and Dr. Sorenson our family doctor.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Humane Society of Durham Region.
