December 31, 1932 - February 8, 2026Our beloved father, William H Somers Sr, age 93, entered into God’s Kingdom on February 8, 2026. He now rests in the arms of the Savior, free from pain and sorrow, rejoicing in the presence of the Almighty.
Loving father of Michael (Sandy), Tim and Wendy Anne. Predeceased by his beloved wife Joan (2022) and dear son William Jr (2021); brother of Phyllis (Jerry), Donna (Ed), Dorothy (Chuck) and Ann (Bruce); brother-in-law of Bud Fraser and Susie MacDonald (Parker); father- in- law of Ruth, Brenda and Sandy; proud GrandDad of Shaun (Nicole), Brad, Lisa (Stephanie), Tim, Tara and Dustin; very proud Great-GrandDad of Lucas, William (Liam), Fraser and Henry. “Uncle Bill” will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents William and Victoria Somers; sisters Helen (Dave); Gladys (Vic); Sal (Gerry); Marge (Chuck); Terry (Nev); Jeannie (Boots) and Mary (Ron) William (Bill) was born in Charlottetown, PEI in 1932 and was doted upon by his 11 sisters but eventually he got tired of waiting to get into the bathroom and moved to Port Colborne in 1951. Not long after his arrival, he started working at Robin Hood MultiFoods and met the love of his life, Joan Fraser, whom he married in 1954. Bill loved music, movies and was an extremely loyal Montreal Canadien fan. It must be in the DNA as all of his children and grandchildren are Habs enthusiasts as well. In the 1980’s and 90’s he organized and played for a Robin Hood hockey team. Dad also possessed a strong sense of social responsibility. He was a volunteer for the OPP Auxiliary Police and a Red Cross Blood donor.
A hard-working individual who never missed a day, he continued to work part time as a security guard after he retired from Robin Hood in 1997. Throughout his life, Dad held an unwavering faith in God and was a dedicated member of the St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.
Caring Dog Dad to Holly, Daisy and Baxter and Affectionate CatGrandDad to Darwin.
