Joyce passed away early Easter Morning on Sunday, April 20, 2025. Born in Stratford, Ontario in 1941, Joyce married James Wesley Sommers in 1963, who survives her. She is pictured here as a vivacious lady of 60, attending a World Arabian Horse Association meeting in Australia.

Joyce and Jim were blessed with a beautiful family, including their late son Geoffrey James, daughter Joni Louise (Kenneth D. Green) and their children Jefry James Thomas, Jordan Riley (Cassandra Dadson), Jack Kenneth Robert, and daughter Jennifer Lynn (Lee Jay Bamberry) and their children Wolfe James Lee, Coltrane Jones, Elijah Bernard, Jonphonse Jabez, Maehalia Isabella, and Juliette Truth.

Grandma Joyce, always busy and spirited, provided countless good times at Sommerloch Farm where family enjoyed horses, pets, and outdoor life. She also enjoyed a lifelong passion for singing in church choirs for over 60 years.

In her later years, Joyce courageously battled hearing loss, dementia, and glaucoma.

Memorial visitation will take place at the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, Ayr Chapel, on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. A private family memorial service will follow. A public “Celebration of Joyce’s Life” gathering will be held at Sommerloch Farm, 1550 Reidsville Rd, Ayr, on Joyce’s birthday, Sunday, June 29, 2025.
