It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the peaceful passing of Pietro Sottosanti, age 84, on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Bluewater Health, surrounded by his loving family.
Pietro was the beloved husband of Rosa Sottosanti, and cherished father to Giovanni “John” (Pam) Sottosanti, Angela Parsons, Rosemary DeHoog, and Maria Grazia. Proud grandfather to Julia (Tom), Ella, Benjamin Peter, Matthew, Hannah, Jenna, and Ethan, and lovingly remembered by his loyal “granddog” Charley.
Dear brother of Giuseppina (Gennaro) Cacace, Maria (Antonio) Arabia, Giuseppe (Rosetta) Sottosanti, Salvatore (Rose) Sottosanti, Antonino, Vincenzo, and Calogero (Cindy) Sottosanti. Predeceased by his parents Giovanni and Arcangela Sottosanti, and siblings Antonina Elmo, Rosa Sottosanti, Sebastiana Liuzzi, and Rosalia Sottosanti, as well as in-laws Salvatore Liuzzi and Giuseppe Elmo.
Pietro and Rosa immigrated to Canada from Sicily in 1968, building a better life and helping many loved ones follow. He was a proud member of the Laborers’ Union, known for his strong work ethic, love of gardening, and winemaking talents.
Friends and family are invited to visitation at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1465 Lecaron Ave., on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by entombment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bluewater Health – Palliative Care or The Heart and Stroke Foundation (cheques only).
