SREBOTNJAK, Vida Srebotnjak

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Vida Srebotnjak, at the age of 97. Vida was taken from us on Christmas morning, December 25, 2024. She lived a remarkable life journey, filled with love, resilience, and joy.

Born on a farm in the small village of Jurkloster, Slovenia (then Yugoslavia) in 1927, Vida lived through the German occupation during World War II. In 1948, she met her future husband, Andrej, on a hillside near her home. They married in 1949, building a life together that eventually brought them to Canada in 1955. Together, they raised five children and built a loving home filled with warmth and happiness.

Vida was the unwavering anchor of her family. She was adored by her children, Andrea (John), Tina (Brian), Tony (Arlene), David (Jolene), and son-in-law Jim. She cherished her grandchildren, Leslie (Bruce), Adam (Kate), John (Stephanie), Nicole, Emily, and Katie (Kevin), as well as her great-grandchildren, Alexa, Ashley, Nolan, Breeana, Michael, and Madelyn. She was predeceased by her husband Andrej (2006) and her beloved first-born daughter, Rose, whom she mourned with strength and grace.

The family is deeply grateful to the compassionate staff at Agecare Westbury for their care over the past two years, and especially to her personal caregivers, Ivy, James, and Joy, who spent countless hours providing comfort and companionship.

The family will receive condolences on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Turner and Porter Funeral Directors, Toronto. A chapel service will follow at 11 a.m., with a private burial thereafter.

Vida’s kindness, love, and legacy will forever remain in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
