ST-MARTIN, Paul – Passed away peacefully at his home in Thunder Bay, with his family by his side on Monday, June 16, 2025 at the age of 65 years.
Beloved partner of the late Patricia Saunders. Dear father of Derek Saunders, Cory (Marshall Tessier and the late Auston VanBuskirk), and Dustin Saunders. Proud grandfather of Hannah, Cash, Trinity, Lochlan, Kavik, and Cree.
Paul was predeceased by his parents Jean-Louis St-Martin and Ange-Aimée Breton, and by his step-father Réjean Proulx. He will be remembered by his brothers and sisters: Rémi (Lilianne Jean), Denise Godbout (Camil), André (Édith Alarie, predeceased), (Comfort Okon), predeceased Angèle Rheault (Robert), Marie-Anne (Mike Lahaie), and Alain (Chantal Cyr). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Paul was a man deeply devoted to his family and provided for them by working in the bush most of his life. For him, the forest and nature felt like a second home. His greatest joy came from simple moments spent with family. His strength, kindness, and love for his children and grandchildren will always be remembered.
Friends may visit at Sacred Heart Church, Chapleau, on Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Ben Nshikita officiating. Cremation will follow at River’s Edge Cremation Centre, Sault Ste. Marie.
Memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
