STEER, Victor Steer

He was 91 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Erie Shores Hospice. Beloved husband of the late Hazel (2023). Dear father of Daphne (Rudy), Heather, stepfather of Terrance Moore, and the late Timothy Moore (2020). Loving grandfather to his many grandchildren. Dear brother of the late Georgina Moretto (late Giorgio), Christina Barry (late James), and the late Gloria Mallett (Stanley). Brother-in-law of Lila MacVicar (late Ronald), Charles Ives (Carol), the late Betty, Robert, Donna, Laura, Eleanor, and David Ives. Victor Steer is predeceased by his parents, George and Sarah Steer (nee Smyth). Victor worked for 35 years at Corver Engineering in Detroit. He was a hardworking and dedicated man, known for his early mornings, long drives, and unwavering commitment to his family. He spent over 50 years with Hazel at their summer cottage in Havelock, where he built a cozy and special place, and always welcomed family. Chase and Chelsea spent many summers there, creating lasting memories and learning life’s fundamentals from their beloved grandfather, who meant so much to them. Visiting will take place at Reid Funeral Home, 14 Russell Street, Leamington, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service to celebrate Victor’s life at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Leamington. Victor’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Bayshore PSWs, the VON Night Team, particularly Nurse Samantha, as well as Dr. Burgess and his team for their compassionate in-home care. Another very special thank you to all the staff at Seacliff Manor and the friends who made Victor feel so welcome during his time there.
