Jane Stevenson

With the love of her family surrounding her on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Lambton Meadowview Villa, Jane Charlotte Stevenson, passed away in her 80th year. She leaves behind a devastated wake of family; her daughters Sarah (Greg) Hunter and Kate (Mike) Benedikovic, who were her pride and joy. She was so proud of her beautiful grandchildren, Cameron, and Charlie Hunter and Trent Benedikovic and she was dearly loved by her sister Judy (Doug) Munro. Jane was the beloved aunt to Matthew(Stephanie) Munro and Laura (Nathan) Martin and the much loved daughter of the late Charles (2007) and Dorothy (2010) Stevenson.

Jane Stevenson dedicated 32 remarkable years as a teacher at LCCVI from 1968 to 2000, helping to shape the minds and character of generations of Petrolia youth. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom, as she inspired kindness, resilience, and curiosity in all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Most recently, Jane found great joy and connection through her participation in the Lambton Meadowview Villa Adult Enrichment Program, attending six days a week and forming meaningful friendships with both community members and staff. Her enthusiastic spirit, tenacious humour and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Jane lived a life full of purpose and generosity. She was an active volunteer, a proud member of the IODE, and a founding member of Charlotte’s Task Force, playing an instrumental role in helping to save the local hospital. She also found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—traveling, spending time with loved ones, and baking her famously delicious butter tarts with the IODE.

Jane’s life was one of devotion—to her family, her community, and her calling as an educator. She will be remembered for her compassionate heart, her quiet strength, and her enduring love for those closest to her.
