STRACHAN, Sylvia Strachan

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Sylvia Strachan on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

Sylvia was the beloved wife of Paul for 60 wonderful years. Their marriage was built on devotion, laughter, partnership, and unwavering love — a true example to everyone who knew them. She will be profoundly missed by Paul, who stood by her side through every chapter of their life together.

She was a proud and loving mother to Bill (Maria), Susanne, and Roberta (Paul). Sylvia’s greatest joy was her family, and she poured her heart into raising her children with strength, warmth, and quiet wisdom. She was a cherished and adoring grandmother to Samantha, Adam, Emma, and Kaylee, who brought endless light and happiness to her life. Nothing made her smile more than time spent with her grandchildren.

Born the second oldest of ten children to the late Jessie and Bertie Law, Sylvia grew up surrounded by a large, lively family that shaped her lifelong devotion to her siblings. She loved them fiercely and remained deeply connected to each of them throughout her life. She was predeceased by her younger sister, Dorothy Francis “Frankie.” She was doted on by her older brother, Cecil, and treasured by her siblings Gladys (Roy), Roberta, Jim (Carmel), Shelly (Ian), Lorraine, Dana (Alan), and Joanne (Jeff), along with their families. Family gatherings were always full of stories, laughter, and the unmistakable bond they shared.

Sylvia will be remembered for her strength, her steady presence, her deep loyalty to those she loved, and the kindness she showed so naturally. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured and the love she gave so freely.

In keeping with Sylvia’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street Markham North, Markham, on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. followed by a reception
