STUNELL, Michael Raymond Stunell

He was passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on January 19, 2026, at Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa. He was 90 years old.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Mike will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marilyn Jane Stunell (née Robertson); his daughter Linda Wheller (née Stunell) and her husband Tim, and grandsons Brendan and Sam; and his daughter Andrea Longlade (née Stunell) and her husband Dan, granddaughters Lauren and Marcelle Andree, grandson Jesse and his wife Heather, and great grandson Benjamin.
Mike is also survived by his sister Margo Henshaw (née Stunell), his brother David Stunell and his wife Mary, and many cherished nieces and nephews who will deeply miss him.
Born in England, Mike immigrated to Canada at the age of 21 in search of opportunity and a brighter future. It was here that he met Marilyn, the love of his life, and together they built a beautiful life filled with devotion, family, and enduring memories.
Mike’s strong work ethic guided him throughout a successful career. He retired early from Imperial Oil at the age of 55, only to discover he had more to contribute. He went on to enjoy a second career with Sun Microsystems before embracing retirement once more—this time dedicating himself fully to the family he cherished above all else.
Known for his gentle spirit, quiet strength, and unfailing kindness, Mike was a man who never raised his voice and never spoke unkindly of others. His warmth, calm presence, and subtle sense of humour left an impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A private family service will take place at Barnes Funeral Home in Brooklin.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
