STUY , John Henry Joseph Stuy

John Stuy, 68, passed away peacefully on August 27th 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of 49 years (together 52) to his wife Cindy, a proud father to Carrie (Joe) and Kat (Daz), and a cherished Papa to Cameron, Ryan, and Koa.

John was also a loving big brother to Allen, Cecilia, Irene, Michael, Jessey and Jake; as well as a caring uncle to many.

He had a lifelong passion for the Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs, and he loved fishing, hunting, and spending time up north with family, friends and his dog Abby. Above all, his greatest joy was his family, whose hearts will carry his love and spirit always.

He now reunites with his parents -Jacob & Irene, his brother and sister—Michael and Cecilia—his best friend George, and his mother and father-in-law Patricia & Robert Murray.

Forever loved, deeply missed, and now gone fishin’—off to his favourite spot with a smile on his face. John leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter. We will miss his voice, his smile, his humor, and his steady presence—but we carry him with us always. His spirit will live on in the woods up north, by the water on a quiet morning, in the thrill of a Jays game, and most of all, in the hearts of those who loved him.

We were blessed beyond words to call him husband, Dad, Papa, brother, and uncle. Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for every moment we shared. John will be remembered always for his steady love, his humor, and the joy he brought to those around him.

A celebration of John’s life will be held between 1pm – 4pm on Saturday, September 6th 2025 at Western Trent Golf Club, 156 Bolsover Road, Bolsover Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation.
