Syd, beloved husband of Cindy (nee Hoogsteen) of 62 years.
Loving father of Susan (Guy Chamberlain), Wendy Prakken, Brian Prakken, Ian Prakken (Tracy) and Leigh-Ann Hope (Ray Driscoll).
Proud grandpa of Mitchell, Jordan, Corey, Krysta, Holly, Taylor, Paige, Zachary and the late Kyle.
Proud great grandpa and Opa of Carter, Reign, Kaia, Bjorn, Theia, Elias and Rome.
Dear brother of Andrew (Maureen), Herman (Donna) and the late Cecil and Alica Joyce. Predeceased by his parents John and Minnie Prakken.
Dear brother in law of Martin (Helen), Ted (the late Marie), Dutch (Mavis), Sid (Alice), Wendy, Judy (the late John) and the late Jim (the late Jenny) and Klaas (survived by Trudy). Syd will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A special thank you to Dr. Tran and Chelsea and the staff in the Palliative Care Unit at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for their wonderful care and support.
Family and friends will be received at Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 21 Garrard Road, on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 1:30 pm until the time of memorial service in the chapel at 2:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Lakeridge Health Foundation Cancer Centre or NASC Sports of Oshawa would be appreciated.
