THERRIEN, Gerald Therrien

Born October 17, 1927 in Penetanguishene Ontario, Dad lived most of his life in Midland raising a family and building a business. Dad took pride in being a volunteer driver for the Cancer Society and gave his time and expertise to many other worthwhile organizations. He enjoyed fishing, cards, and became a self-taught woodworker. Nothing made him happier than being asked to create something in his shop. You could not visit him without playing a few hands of Euchre, and he usually won. And boy, did he love the Toronto Blue Jays. He’ll be cheering them on from the best seats in the house.

Dad was predeceased by our Mom Eleanor in 2005 and by Miriam Keeling in 2015. He will be missed by his children Joan (Ron Scobie), Gerald Jr. (Magdalena), Faye, Paul (Margo), Mary, John (Kim), Anna (Rick Dalzell) and Alexander (Brenda), his sister Sr. Laura Therrien CSC, and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of Central Place Retirement Home in Owen Sound and most recently Country Lane Nursing Home in Chatsworth for their exceptional care.

Dad had many favourite sayings and the one he used most often was “Have charity in your heart”. In lieu of flowers, we would ask that you follow his advice and perform a random act of kindness in his memory.

Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will be held at a later date.

Rest easy, GBT
