THOMAS, Janis Thomas

Passed away peacefully at Chapman House on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Born in Hamilton on August 18, 1950, Janis Carol Thomas (nee Pidsodny) of Owen Sound was in her 76th year.

Beloved wife of the late Donald Thomas. Loving mother of Lisa Whalen (Dave) of Cambridge, Ryan Thomas (Marie) of Owen Sound and Chad Thomas (Alicia) of Owen Sound. Cherished “Baba” of Liam, Callie, Payton (Nate), Rowan, Jeck, Peter, Janis and Donald. Janis will also be missed by her dog Bodie, and by her many friends.

Predeceased by her parents Peter and Doris Pidsodny.

Janis was an avid bowler and committed volunteer in the community with several organizations. Baba was at her happiest spending summers at the Sauble Beach cottage with family and friends. Holidays and special occasions were her domain, filling her house with amazing smells of food from her Ukrainian heritage.

A memorial service to celebrate Janis’s life will be held at First United Church, 435 21st St. W., Owen Sound, on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Kristal McGee officiating, with visitation one hour prior. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
