THOMPSON, Douglas Ford Thompson

It is with profound sadness that we announce, Douglas Ford Thompson of Napanee passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 16th, 2026 at the age of 85. Doug was surrounded by his loving family and grandchildren after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Doug was the beloved husband of 63 years to Betty Thompson (nee Speed) and devoted father of Shelley Clapp (David), Dana Thompson – Green (Paul) and Angela Thompson (Ryan). Loving Grandfather to Kyle (Tommy), Josh, Darby (Nico) and Spencer.

Doug was pre-deceased by his parents Christie and Beulah Thompson. Beloved brother to William Thompson (Gloria). Predeceased by his siblings Gordon Thompson (late Mary), Ruth Crouse (late Charles), Donald Thompson (Dorothy), Marjorie Brennan (late Edward) and Betty Lansbergen (late Hank). Brother-in-law to the late John Speed (late Ruth).

He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Wartman Funeral Home, Napanee on Friday, May 22nd, 2026. Visitation will be held from 11am-1pm and a service to remember Doug will follow at 1pm. Interment will take place at the Riverview Cemetery, afterwards the family invites you back to Wartman Funeral Home for reception.

In memory of Doug, friends desiring may contribute to the Lennox and Addington Hospital Foundation or charity of their choice.
