Helen (Jeanne) Thomson passed away peacefully at Markham Stouffville Hospital on April 29, 2025 with family by her side.

Beloved wife of Murray O.G. Thomson (predeceased November 2015) for over 53 years. Loving mother of Murray, Jennie and Sarah, and their partners. Proud grandmother of Johnathan, Dylan, Griffin, Violet and Amelia.

Born in Toronto to James and Dorothea Richardson in 1939. Dear sister to Austin Kirkby (predeceased) and her family.

Jeanne studied at the Ontario College of Art at 17 and was employed at Wallace’s Department Store from 1957 to 1973 as a fashion illustrator. She also worked part-time as a florist at her mother’s flower shop on the main street in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Jeanne was an active community volunteer for most of her life. She volunteered at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Museum, the St. Catharines and Thorold Public Libraries, West Lincoln Hospital and the Jordan Historical Museum of the Twenty. She was also a member of the flower guild at St. John’s Anglican Church for many years.

Aside from her family, pets and her beloved historic home in Jordan, her greatest passion was genealogy. For decades Jeanne researched several ancestral lines and helped others with their research.

“Jeannie” will be remembered for her playful nature, contagious laughter and her immersive storytelling.As per her wishes, Jeanne has been cremated and will have a private burial.
