We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Angela Danica Tucar, on Wednesday March 18th, 2026.
Angela was born December 24, 1962, to Leola Tucar (Kettle) and George Tucar (predeceased March 26, 1999). As a teen and young adult Angela, like her dad, she loved sports. She played hockey, baseball, ringette, and lacrosse on a boys team.
At an early age, Angie wanted to become a nurse after watching Hot Lips Hooligan on the TV series M*A*S*H. After working as a PSW in a retirement home, she knew that she was meant to help people. Angela was accepted into the Nursing Program in Barrie, Ontario. While returning home one weekend in January of 1987, she was broadsided and severely injured in a tragic vehicle accident. After healing from the life-threatening car accident, and at the same battling an autoimmune disorder, she persevered and continued her schooling, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1990. Angela worked as a nurse for 35 years at the
Memorial Hospital, Saint Joseph’s (The General), and finally at Health Sciences North, in March 2010.
Angie loved to spend most of her free time in the summer on Manitoulin Island, where she enjoyed sightseeing, bird watching, and bonfires with family and friends. She was kind and generous to everyone. If a patient was hungry she would buy them a coffee and a muffin. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas. Some of her favorite things to do were decorating at home and at work, and sharing treats and gifts with family, friends, their children, and coworkers. Her generosity and great sense of humour endeared her to all who met her.
Sadly, on March 17 of 2019 she was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer. Angela bravely continued to work until August 2025, even while undergoing multiple chemotherapy treatments. She was a positive, bright light, never expressing anger or self-pity, despite the many challenges life put before. She is an inspiration to us all.
Angela is survived by her partner of 35 years, Mark Dabous, her mother, Leola Tucar, (Jerry Simenac (predeceased 2019), sister Laurie Tucar (Maurice Cloutier), her father George Tucar (predeceased 1999), brother George Jr. Tucar, and aunts, uncles and cousins from the Datama, Drake, Kettle, McNeice, Rogers, Stone, and Webb families.
Donations may be made to the Angela Tucar bursary for student nurses at Cambrian College; or to Health Sciences North would also be appreciated.
Thank you to the amazing, compassionate staff on the Fourth Floor North Oncology unit, the Cancer Centre, and all other departments and staff who assisted Angela on her difficult journey.
Angie, we will miss you until we see you again. Always in our hearts, our Christmas Angel.
