TUREK, Andrew Turek

Passed away in Whitby on Saturday, June 20, 2026. Beloved husband to Marie(deceased 2022) and father of Ross (MaryAnn) of Whitby and Douglas (Shelly) of Melbourne, Australia. Cherished grandfather to Allison (Andrew), Evelyn(Owen), Max (Sydney), Grace (Darius), Lauren (Cody) and Brooke. Celebrated great-grandfather to Vivian and Kyla. Proud son of Colonel Karol and Janina, and brother to Stan and Krystyna (all deceased).

Former 50-year resident of Windsor and popular professor of geology at the University of Windsor. Andrew Turek was born in Poland and after escaping during the war, grew up in the UK, later to study at the University of Edinburgh where he met Marie. They began a life
together in Canada in 1958 with Andrew having a successful career in mining, geology and academia including further study at Edmonton and Australian National University.

Friends are invited to join the family for a graveside service at Heavenly Rest Cemetery (5005 Howard Ave, LaSalle) at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 29 where Andrew will be laid to rest next to Marie.
