Aimo passed away with family by his side at Windsor Regional Hospital Metropolitan Campus on July 5, 2025, at the age of 88.
Beloved husband of Nilla (née Himanka) for 60 years. Proud father of Sari (Robert), Ari (Faye), and Petri (Justyna). Cherished grandfather of Samuel (Jaimie), Julia (Brandon), Simon, Emma, Ava, Lila, and Sylvia, and great-grandfather of Andrew, Braxton, and Henry.
Predeceased by his brothers Kullervo and Kallervero (Ingegerd), and his niece Päivi. Aimo will be missed by many extended family members and friends.
Born in Terijoki, Finland, Aimo and his family were evacuees of the war, later settling in the town of Fiskars. As a young man, he first emigrated to Australia where he lived for three years before returning to Finland, where he met his loving wife, Nilla. Along with their young daughter Sari, they emigrated to Canada and made Windsor their home.
In Windsor, Aimo worked for the rest of his career as a carpenter, supervising many construction projects that have become landmarks in the city.

On Friday, July 11, 2025, all are welcome to gather for visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. until a Service in Celebration of Aimo’s Life begins at 11:00 a.m. at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens.
