Mr. David George Wahl, Sr., age 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on May 11, 2025, in Port Perry, Ontario, Canada.
Born on July 7, 1944, in Ishpeming, Michigan, United States, David was the son of George and Katie Wahl. A proud graduate of the Colorado School of Mines, David pursued a career as a mining engineer, combining technical expertise with an innate ability to build and create.
David’s talents extended far beyond his professional life. He was an avid woodworker whose hands brought to life everything from cottages and gazebos to finely crafted furniture and custom kitchens. His love for building things was not just a hobby—it was a reflection of his character: steady, thoughtful, and enduring. Whether working with timber or solving complex engineering problems, David approached every task with precision and care.
He was a wonderful husband to Peggy Wahl, with whom he shared many adventures and years of love and partnership. Together they built a family rooted in warmth and support. David was a devoted father to his sons—David Glenn Wahl, Jason Wahl, and Stephen Wahl and welcomed their wives Heather, Paige, and Rita into the family with open arms. His pride in his grandchildren, Aurelia and Aidan, was evident in every story he told and every project he undertook for them.
Those who knew David remember him as a builder not only of structures but of relationships—a man who shaped spaces where people could gather and memories could be made. His legacy lives on in the homes he helped create, the furniture he crafted by hand, and the lives he touched through kindness and dedication.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
