It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Waymann at The Palace Long Term Care in Alexandria, Ontario on April 11th, 2026.
Margaret Waymann (née Clairmont), devoted wife of the late Dan Waymann. Loving mother of Kirsten Waymann, Petawawa; Carl (Gina) Waymann, Alexandria; and Mark (Aleks) Waymann, Ottawa. Cherished Gram of Kristoff Malejczuk.
Predeceased by her brother Tom (late Anne) and brother-in-law Paul (late Joyce; survived by Lorna). She is survived by her brother-in-law Alfred (Elizabeth) and a multitude of loving nieces and nephews and their children.
There was no kinder, gentler, more compassionate person than Margaret. Over the course of her life, her profession of teaching piano brought her in contact with hundreds of students. Not only did she enrich their lives with the gift of music, but she became a role model, mentor and confidante to her students and their families.
Margaret was an extraordinarily gifted pianist. She received her ARCT from the Royal Conservatory of Music at the age of 13. She majored in Sociology at St. Patrick’s College in Ottawa where she was bestowed the Governor General’s Award for English. She went on to pursue further studies in piano, spending two years at the renowned Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. Upon returning to Canada, Margaret embarked on a concert tour of Western Canada and recorded with Dan for CBC Radio in Ottawa. Margaret and Dan also performed at the very first Canadian Tulip Festival in Ottawa.
Margaret always took on new projects fearlessly. She could lay a wooden floor, build kitchen cupboards and mitre trim. She hand-laid the stonework on the front of their house in Alexandria and even helped re-shingle a roof at age 75.
Margaret had a deep love of Mother Nature. She took joy in planting flowers and vegetables, and in winter chickadees would land on her hand to eat birdseed from her palm.
Margaret will always be remembered as a gentle soul, totally selfless and forever giving. She was a shining light who bathed anyone who came into her circle with great love.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at The Palace for the warmth, kindness and caring they provided to Margaret. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), an organization that Margaret held close to her heart.
The family will hold a private interment at a future date.
