WHITE, Bruce Laverne White

Bruce Laverne White, age 79, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, in Orillia, Ontario. Bruce was born on August 2, 1945, in Huntsville, Ontario, where he lived most of his life.

Bruce grew up in Williamsport, Huntsville, surrounded by his parents Alfred Daniel and Margaret (née Sammons) White and eight siblings. He attended Spruce Glen Public School, affectionately known as “The Chicken Koop,” and made lifelong friends. He spent summers as a camp counselor, bringing joy and wisdom to many young lives.

In his early adulthood, Bruce lived briefly in Toronto, working at a building center, but returned to Huntsville, where he dedicated his career to public service with the Ministry of Transportation until his retirement in 1998. After retirement, he kept busy with a small scrap business and tending to his garden—often trying to keep deer out of it.

Bruce adored his family, especially his nieces and nephews, creating joyful memories with them through swimming, ice cream outings, and constant laughter. He shared a deep bond with his late beloved wife, Patricia White (née Nadrofsky), who supported him throughout life’s journey.

Bruce was predeceased by his wife Patricia, parents Dan and Margaret, and siblings Wilfred (Sylvia), Fred, Jean (Gordon) Heard, John, and Norman. He was a loving stepfather to Walter (Debi) Coker, Belinda (Kevin) Jewitt, and Tracy (Rick) Schweertman, a proud Papa to six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Survived by his siblings Carl White (late Yvonne), Harold White, and Ruth (late George) Dzigas, Bruce is fondly remembered by extended family, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A graveside service will be held on June 16, 2025, at 12 noon at Hutcheson Memorial Cemetery in Huntsville. A reception will follow at Billingsley Funeral Home, 430 Ravenscliffe Road, Huntsville, where friends and family are invited to share stories and memories of Bruce.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to Tina at Company for You for her kindness and excellent care during Bruce’s final months.

Bruce will be dearly missed, but his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Billingsley Funeral Home.
