Passed away on June 14, 2026, at the age of 90.
Eric Stanley Wickstrom was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario, where he spent most of his life. He was a proud Northern Ontarian, but also proud of his Swedish heritage, where he spent a few years as a teen after the death of his father.
He met the love of his life, Sandra, on a blind date, and together they spent 67 years full of adventure, close friendships, and travel. They raised three children: Chris, Wendy (Mike), and Heid (Kevin).
Eric loved being at the camp on Wanapitei: the sauna, neighbourhood parties, ski vacations, hunting and fishing trips, and living on Gemmell Street and the community they were a part of.
He had a quick wit, loved his family, and was amazingly resilient – especially near the end of his life.
He was proud of his 33-year career as a firefighter, and when they retired, Eric and Sandra spent many winters in Florida where they made more longtime friends.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Sandra; his three children; and six grandchildren: Emily (Hamish), Jack, Madeleine, Ian, Abbey, and Max; as well as four nieces and nephews: Diana, Marty, Laura, and Lisa.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 2:00 pm, at Simple Wishes of the North, 1106 Kingsway, Sudbury, Ontario.
