WILSON, Michael Robert Wilson
A larger-than-life man known for his friendly, fun-loving, caring, and humorous personality, left us on May 23, 2026. Born on March 8, 1946, in Aberdeen, Scotland, to his parents Hazel and Thomas Wilson, he lived a life filled with laughter and love. Mike is survived by his loving wife Lynne, and his children Rachel (Brendan), Caley (Jackie), Nicholas (Lindsay), and Katharine, as well as his sister Deborah. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Rowan, Henry, Sawyer, and Isaac. His departure leaves a void in their lives, yet they find comfort in the memories and unconditional love that they shared, whether at the annual summer cottage, on the ski hills, or just having a backyard barbecue and swim.

As a youth, sports were very important to Mike, excelling at baseball, hockey, and his favourite sport, tennis. Mike even competed as a member of Canada’s Junior Davis Cup team. He also represented Ontario at the US National Junior Tennis Championships. Mike attended the University of Toronto School, playing on the school football, basketball, and hockey teams. He graduated from the University of Toronto after playing varsity hockey and tennis, and then earned his MBA at the University of Western Ontario, also winning the OUAA tennis finals.

Michael Robert Wilson’s first job with the Export Development Corporation involved travel to Europe and Africa, followed by sales in a hydraulic turbine company, and completing his career in consulting and recruiting.

Mike’s favourite things to do were using his chainsaw, playing tennis, especially with his regular Sunday group, squash, skiing, and golf, and spending time with Lynne, his family, and friends. He had an adventurous spirit and travelled the world when he was young, which continued into his retired years.

Mike could have a conversation with anyone, was the first person to lend a hand, and always enjoyed a social event. Even at the end, he found a way to smile and laugh, and his cheeky spirit shone through.

We were all lucky to have known him and will be greatly missed by all.

A Celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 between 2-5pm at the Islington Golf Club,
45 Riverbank Dr, Etobicoke, ON., M9A 5B8

In remembrance of Mike, and in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer Society of Toronto.
