WILT, Douglas Bonar Wilt

With shattered hearts, we, the family of Douglas Wilt, share that on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, Doug’s beautiful spirit returned to Heaven.

Born in Oshawa on October 17, 1965, Doug was 59 years old and the youngest child of the late Bonar and Evelyn Wilt. He is now reunited with his beloved siblings, the late Darlene Wilt and the late Gary Wilt.

Doug will be missed beyond words by his soulmate of 31 years, Tizi Wilt, and by their three amazing children, Jesse, Cheyenne (with partner Brandon), and Tylene—each of whom he was fiercely proud of and lived every breath for.His heart belonged to many, but none more than his granddaughter, the light of his life, Iyla Rose (“Rosebud”).

He also leaves behind his heartbroken brother Terry Wilt, cherished sister-in-law Betty Wilt, and his “OG girls,” Tara (Sam) and Laura (Ian), whom he loved deeply. His free-spirited great-nephew Lucas held a special place in his heart, as did his extended family near and far.

Doug’s love stretched across the country—from his cousin Colleen in Winnipeg to the East Coast of Canada, where his soul felt most at home. He will also be deeply missed by Aunt Ida, her children, and countless cousins who were more like siblings.

His quiet strength and loving spirit touched lives across the world—from Europe, the United States, and South America, to every corner he left his mark.

Doug’s co-workers at GFL, friends, and family will remember him for his humour, his loyalty, and the deep kindness he carried every day.

A life well lived. A legacy worth leaving behind. Doug will be heartachingly missed by all who knew him.

Cremation will take place at Mount Lawn Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2025, from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Bowmanville Legion.
