Douglas David Woodlock of Wasaga Beach, was born in Newcastle, Ontario on August 14, 1937, to parents Thomas and Violette (nee Brown) Woodlock. He was the beloved husband of June (nee Mutton) for almost 70 years. Loving father of Devra (Ron), Steven and Don (Diane). Cherished grampa of Neile, Michaela, Nick, Paige, Shayne and Saleh. Treasured great-grampa of Allison, Jessica, Presley, Olivia, Daniel and Violette. Lovingly remembered by his younger brother Allan (Connie), extended family and friends.
Doug was very athletic and spent his youth excelling at track and field, soccer and rugby. He started his career as an electrician at GM in Oshawa. After taking courses at Ryerson, he earned his teacherβs degree and moved his young family up north after accepting a teaching position with Kapuskasing District High School. Basketball was his passion and he coached many teams at KDHS, also acquiring his Referee Licence.
Doug was an avid fisherman most of his life. He created a fishing camp in Hornepayne, Ontario out of crown land that he purchased on a chain of lakes. For 15 years, summers were spent at Camp Larkin hosting many people at the campsites and cabins that he had built.
After retiring and moving to Wasaga Beach, he turned his large garage into a wood working shop and built many things including all the hardwood for their new home and furniture. He also built California shutters that he shipped to customers in the States.
Doug and June also bought a home in Sarasota where they spent a lot of time enjoying the sunshine in the winter months.
Throughout his life, his sense of humour and absolute, undying, lifelong love for his wife, June, got him through.
