Neil Harold Wright

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Neil Harold Wright, 82, of Whitby, who slipped away peacefully on November 24, 2025, after a courageous battle with dementia. Neil leaves behind the love of his life of 39 years, Trudi Wright. He was a devoted father of Todd Wright (predeceased), Tera (Chris) Borchuk, and Shannon (Mark) Jansen. He was a proud Papa to Kate, Britt, and Brad, each of whom lit up his world. He often said with joy, “I have a new name—and my name is PAPA.”  Neil is also survived by his brother Ron (Barb) Wright, Marie (pre-deceased) (Don) Wilson, Lorraine (Randy) Merchantand Judy (Dave) Bogart. Born on May 1, 1943, in Pontypool, Ontario, Neil carried throughout his life the values of integrity, kindness, and quiet strength. He pursued studies at  Ryerson University and became a CPA before venturing into business ownership. Neil owned Fox Welding Supplies for 15 years and later followed his curiosity and entrepreneurial spirit by purchasing a Microplay video game store. Over the years, he also invested in and operated several other small businesses, always embracing new challenges with determination. Beyond his career, Neil found joy in boating with his family on Lake Couchiching, cheering for the Blue Jays, following the stock market, and playing cards after family dinners. He will be remembered for his warm smile, gentle humour, and the unwavering love he shared with those around him. A Celebration of Neil’s Life will be held on December 10, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 21 Garrard Rd. Whitby On L1N 2L6. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Durham Region Humane Society.
