YOSHIDA, Gary Keiji Yoshida

The family of GARY KEIJI YOSHIDA are brokenhearted by his passing on June 13, 2026. He was 85. Gary was the oldest child of Yonekazu and Setsuko Yoshida. Born in Vancouver, his family moved to Toronto after WWII internment in Grand Forks, BC.

Gary’s undeniable greatest joy was the people he loved. Grieving are his wife of 57 years, Glenna. Son Jason, his wife Andrea, children Abigail, Joshua, Jakobe. Son Brett, his wife Nichola, children Alyson, Braydon. Son Sam, his wife Catherine, children Oliver, Miles. Siblings Richard(Jessie), Lily(Roy), Mary(Len d.), Dianne, June(predeceased), Jane(Rod). First Cousins in Vancouver. Aunties, Nieces, Nephews and numerous second Cousins.

Cremation by Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, Whitby. Gary requested no flowers or life celebration.

Gary was genuinely warm, very easy going and never gave up on anything, ever. Stubborn to his final breath, and because he did not want to leave us, he gave everything he had in his fight with COPD.

His grandchildren have said their memories of their Jichan are his grace, strength and perseverance; his warm smile, laughter and heartfelt encouragement; his unwavering willingness to help; family meals, especially burgers and trips for ice cream; sleepovers; crib games, pool fun, backyard baseball, Blue Jays games. All reflections of his abiding love of family.

Gary’s career with IBM, Toronto was followed by a passionate career in certified personal training, massage and shiatsu, at Mayfair Fitness, Markham, and The Grand Hotel, Kelowna, BC. When he retired in Whitby, ON, he thoroughly enjoyed working at the Wyndance Golf Club.

Lifetime favourites were gym workouts every morning, golf, hockey, baseball, and dragon boat competitions.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal.
Love leaves a memory no one can steal..
