LAIRD, Donald Gordon - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Gordon Laird, of London, Ontario.
Don left us peacefully, at University Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre, with his loving wife, Arlete, by his side, on September 17, 2022.
Don was born in Fort Erie in 1937. He married Arlete Sotto-Mayor in 1991.
Don is survived by three children: Wendy Laird, Doug Laird and Bonny Wadeson; five grandchildren: Jamie, Jimmy, Jessica, Sean and Taylor; and three great-grandchildren.
His children cherish their memories of fishing trips in the Georgian Bay area, his sense of humour, and his strength in overcoming challenges.
He was involved with AA for many years, supporting numerous members of the AA community.
The past two decades, he enjoyed his hobby of Ham radio communications and he built relationships with Ham operators across the continent. Don's signature sign-off was: "We're down, we're gone - bye."
As such, he has signed off a final time.
At Don's request, private arrangements have been made for cremation in London, ON.
Donations to the London Men's Mission or Salvation Army, in Don's memory, would be accepted with appreciation.
