The family of John Tratnik is saddened to announce his passing on November 4, 2023.

Born in Lutrško Selo at the base of Trška Gora, Slovenia, on March 21, 1934, John will be greatly missed by the love of his life, Martina; and his children, Mayda (John), Mark (Bernie), the late Karl, Luke (Mary), Lolly and Peter (Bev).

He was blessed with twelve grandchildren, Thomas (Andrea), Christine, Jackie (Will), Alexandra (Chris), Andrea (Mark), Emily (Michael), Marisa (David), Nicole (Eric), Kevin, Jill, Amanda and Anthony; as well as eight great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Piper, Lily, Liam, Ella, Nikolas, Emma and Leo. He was predeceased by his parents, Alojzij and Alojzija; brothers, Vinko, Alojzij and Tone; and his sisters, Mara, Slavka, Cveta and Martina.

Sharing our sorrow is his sister, Joža; his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and their families, both here and in Slovenia. He will always be remembered as a big-hearted and generous man with a kind soul. He was always donating and volunteering with missionary works.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, November 7th from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W. (on Fourteenth St., between Kipling and Islington Aves.), and on Wednesday, November 8th from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 739 Browns Line, Etobicoke. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Mount Peace Cemetery.

The family invites all to join them at a luncheon in the Slovenian Cultural Centre adjacent to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal after the interment.

If you wish, donations in memory of John, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the charity of your choice.
