Spencer KathleenSPENCER, Kathleen Marian (nee BARR)  -  Died peacefully on March 14, 2024, at Allendale Long Term Care in Milton, ON, three weeks shy of her 88th birthday, after a long decline from Alzheimer's.

Predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Jim (2007). Survived by brother, Peter Barr (Anne) of Calgary; her four children, Jane MacKenzie, Jennifer Keefe (Don), Peter, and John (Christine).

Adored Nanny to grandchildren, Will, Andrew, Maggie, Matthew, Kate, Eric, Samantha, Laura (Tim) and James.

Aunt to Laurie (Tim) of Calgary. Born April 2, 1936 in Westmount, Montreal, QC, she attended Trafalgar School for Girls in Montreal, graduating in 1953.

She married Jim Spencer (McGill Engineering, 1944) on March 14, 1959, in Mount Royal. In 1969, they moved into the house on Shaughnessy in the Henry Farm neighbourhood of North York, ON, where she resided for 45 years.

This was the beginning of lifelong friendships with new neighbours and their kids, leading to shared family ski trips, vacations and many dinner parties with the Dinner Group.

Kathy was never happier than when hosting dinner for family, friends, and a labrador retriever. Particularly memorable were the family trips to the Barr family cottage on Lake Memphremagog, QC for summer vacations, and skiing Owl's Head in winter.

A big thank you to the caring staffs of Allendale LTC in Milton, and Chartwell Waterford (memory care) in Oakville.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a Celebration of Life on April 26th, from 2-5 p.m., at Donalda Golf Club, 12 Bushbury Dr., North York, ON.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario or Canada would be appreciated.
